The Gray House

Gray house

Location: Lisbon, New Hampshire.

Activity: Faces are seen looking out windows.  Cellar door opens by itself.  A lady in white has been seen.

History: A typical house where people have come and gone over the years.  No apparent tragedy has happened.

Investigation: This is a unique situation.  We have been into this house on many occasions to do investigations.  The house is a rental property.  Nancy is the caretaker of sorts.  She does the cleaning between guests and generally watches over the place.  This lets us go in to train and do small investigations, when it is not being rented.  We can go in and have the freedom to try new techniques and test out new equipment.  We have done at least four of these training sessions, over the past year.  Hopefully, we can continue to do this for a while.

Evidence: There have been many pictures taken here. Some show orbs and   one had a mist in it. I have had a personal experience here. We had planned on doing a full investigation, when a big storm came in that afternoon. It knocked the power out, so we decided to do a scaled down one instead. With the power being out, it was really dark. We were up in the master bedroom  doing an EVP and pendulum session, when I had the feeling that something was in the doorway. Just as I looked up, the headlights from a passing car illuminated something white in the doorway. I was so shocked that my feet were moving, but I was not. I liken it to a Scooby Doo reaction, the one where his feet are moving but he is not. It was an interesting experience. It just shows that even when you want to see something happen, it’s still scares you what it does. My sister Nancy has experienced the cellar door opening several times. It never happens when someone is watching it. I tried to reproduce this but when the doors shut it is latch tightly. Here is what we caught so far.

August 11th 2007

Location:
Lisbon NH.

Team Members: Tony, Nikki, Nancy, Keegan, and Dustin - guest investigator.

Outside Temperature: 50 degrees

Inside Temperatures: 80 degrees

EMF Readings: none

Equipment: Camera 1 - pointing down hallway. Camera 2 - guest bedroom. Digital cameras, Audio recorders Mini DV.

Brief History: The trailer belongs to Gretchen and Mark. It is on land that used to have a house on it. A man was found outside one night when he was locked out of his house. He did not died there, but passed away a short time later.

Activity: Shadows are seen. Cold spots. People feel uneasy in the shower.

Investigation: We arrived at the trailer and did a walk through and decided to set up base camp in the living room. My nephew Dustin was along on his first investigation and we all showed him what we do. We stared recording at 9:30 pm. I took Dustin into the bathroom to do EVPs. The clients were outside at a bonfire. The coyotes were howling all around us. It set a good mood for the night. At about midnight, we held a pendulum session on the deck. The previous owner was found just of the deck. We seemed to contact him. He was happy with the Gretchen and Mark. Their grandson was fascinated with watching the cameras. We ended about 1:00 am.

Personal Experiences: While I was in the bathroom with Dustin, I felt a cold spot and saw a red orb in the shower. We also felt a cold spot in the living room. We shut off the ceiling fan to see if that was causing it . It was not.

Evidence: We got a few pictures and several EVPs.

Conclusion: Aside from the EVPs, I would say this place has some activity, but not haunted. I will keep in touch to see if the activity picks up. Tony lead investigator.

P.S. - these are pictures that the home owners took the next day. This spot was not there before we did the investigation. It is on the spot where the previous owner was found shortly before he passed away. We did ask for a sign. What do you think?

July 14th 2007

Location:
Jim Moncrief & Bea LaBounty residence. 80 Union St. Littleton, NH. First floor.

Team Members: Tony, Nikki, Nancy, and Keegan.

Outside Temperature: 64 degrees.

Inside Temperature: Upstairs 75 -  Downstairs 70.

EMF Reading: 0.0 no unusual readings.

Equipment  & Placement: Wireless IR- camera upstairs, IR camera- kitchen, and IR camera- computer room. Digital recorders and cameras, Mini DV camera.

Brief History: The house was built in 1882. It has since been turned into three apartments. One of the previous home owners passed away in the house. There also was a death on the third floor.

Activity: People have been touched. A full body apparition has been seen. Smoke detectors go off even without batteries. People have the feeling of being watched. Cold spots. Names have been called out when no one is there.

Investigation: We had met Jim on a previous day to discuss what activity he had been experiencing. He also had questions about us and what we do. Jim really put me to the test. I hopefully answered all his questions. We scheduled the investigation for the following week. We arrived at 8:30 pm. Because of the meeting, I had a good idea where I wanted the cameras and base camp. We did our EMF and temperature sweeps. Nancy and Nikki took pictures, while Keegan and I finished up testing our new DVR system. We were all set to go dark. Jim had gotten two pizzas for us, so we decided to take a break. We went dark at 10:00 pm. We started in the upstairs storage  room doing EVPs. This room is where Nancy and I had had some weird feelings. We moved on to the kitchen, then the living room. After a couple of hours, we decided to invite Jim and Bea to join our pendulum session. We held it in the kitchen. Nancy started by asking to show us a yes, a no, and a maybe. We noticed that the usual rotational answers for yes and maybe were switched. This was unusual because it had never happened before. We had some results, but nothing that really stood out. We tried to contact Andy who was the man who died on the third floor. It was this spirit that Jim had seen in the kitchen then disappeared through the ceiling. We got a lot of maybe answers, which is curious. Did the spirits not want to answer us, or just being stubborn, or not realize what we were trying to do. With over six hours of video and audio already recorded, we decided to call it a night. 1:10 pm

Personal Experiences: Aside from the first time in the storage room, I did have something happen. While setting up the camera in the storage room, I had an ice cold breeze move across my legs. I do not know where it came from. The room itself was 75 degrees with no fans and no open windows. I also had a weird feeling about the cellar door while we were doing the pendulum.

Evidence: We got some photos and several EVPs.

Conclusion: Jim and Bea are great clients. Jim kept me on my toes with his questions. I feel that there is some activity here, but not haunted. As always, we will keep this case open for further investigation. Tony.

 May 5th 2007

Location:
Sugar Hill, NH

Team: Tony, Nikki, Nancy, Keegan, Val, Phyllis, Ray, Michelle, and Lolita.

Equipment: Small wired IR camera in bar, IR cameras in library, upstairs hallway, and kitchen. Digital cameras and audio recorders. EMF meter and Thermometer.

History: The Oakes family built the homestead in 1789. They lived there until the Richardson's bought the home in 1925. They put on a large addition and opened a hotel called Caramat Inn. By the 1950s they added on three cottages for the tourists. In 1972 the named changed to The Sugar Hill Inn. It is currently owned by Steve Allen.

Activity: Apparitions have been seen. The shadow of a man in the kitchen. Footsteps are heard on the stairs. A bed in one of the rooms appeared to have been sat on after the bed was made. A plant pot in the lounge slid off the mantle and fell to the floor without breaking and no one touching it.

Investigation: I had wanted to do the inn for awhile. I had heard stories of it being haunted. Phyllis used to chambermaid there and had some weird feelings. We got permission to do the investigation from the owner Steve Allen. Val is the chef there and talked to him about it. Steve had shut the inn down while he was on vacation. We had run of the whole place. I sent Nikki, Nancy, and Michelle out to take photos. The rest of us set up base camp in the front room. We then ran the wires for the cameras. By the time all of this was done, it was time to got lights out. Having such a large group, we could separate into several groups. I was surprised at how big the inn was. Basically, there are two wings with an upstairs on both. They are joined by the front lobby. I mixed the groups up every so often so that everyone got to investigate. We took a break about 10:30. When we got back, we noticed the camera in the hallway  was pointing wrong. It had happened earlier in the night also. When we checked out the camera, we noticed the closet door was open. No one had left it open and everyone was accounted for. Again we fixed the camera and began to investigate once more. Nancy, Nikki, and I decided to do a pendulum session in the library. We did have some interesting results. By 1 o'clock, everyone was getting tired so we packed up and left.

Personal Experiences: There was a lot of experiences that night. While Nikki was taking pictures, she went to open the closet door in one of the rooms. ( The camera was in this room pointing down the hallway.) She felt the door being pulled out of her hand. When we checked the closet, the temperature in the closet was noticeably colder than in the room. Several pictures were taken, but nothing came out. I was at base camp and I saw the camera in that same room move. I called up to see where the team was that was up there. They were not in the area. I checked the camera and noticed the whole tripod had moved. The wire was taped down so no one tripped on it to cause it to move. The camera was pointing in such a way that no one could get to it without being seen. After fixing the camera, Michelle, Nikki, and I decided to sit in that room and see what would happen. We did some EVP work as well as mini DV recorder. Michelle and I both felt like there was something down the hallway. She saw a shadow move from one room to the next. I then saw what appeared to be a head peak around the door frame. I went running down the hall and just as i got into the room I saw a shadow dissipate. The room was 10 degrees colder then the rest of the floor. The second time the camera moved we noticed the closet door was open. Ray heard some whispers in the library when he went to the bathroom. A humorous experience happened in the Betty Davis room. I was in there with Nikki, Michelle, and Keegan when I started to sing Betty Davis Eyes. Nikki joked that if the spirit wanted me to stop singing it should poke me. Just then I felt a poke on my butt! I spun around thinking they were pulling a joke on me, but no one was within five feet of me. I guess the spirit didn't like my singing.

Evidence: We caught some pictures and EVPs. We also have some video, unfortunately I
can't transfer it from VHS to my computer. Once I do, I will add it.

Shadow in the window. Both Anthony and Michelle saw this.

Weird light anomaly in the tree.

Orb in the window.

Conclusion: With the evidence we caught, I definitely feel this Inn to be haunted. We had a great time and I want to thank Steve for allowing us to do this investigation. The Inn is open so if you are interested in staying over night and maybe having your own experience, give them a call. Tony

April 21st 2007

Location:
Kent and Julie Berwick residence East Peacham VT.

Team Members: Tony, Nikki, Nancy, Keegan, and Michelle.

Equipment: IR camera in the kitchen. Wireless camera in the master bedroom. Small wired camera in upstairs bedroom. Digital camera, digital recorders, and Sony mini DV.

Activity: Doors open. Latches open. Items fall off shelves. Cold spots. Phantom smells.

History: The house used to be Kent's grandmother Della's. They finally had to move her out because of health reasons. She has since passed on and Kent and Julie have moved in. The grandmother was not happy about having to leave.

Investigation: We arrived at a little past 8:00pm. Julie gave us a walk through telling us where the activity has been happening. As Keegan and I set up base camp in the living room, the others went off to do EMF sweeps and photos. During the time the girls were upstairs taking pictures, they had the door to the attic open. As they were taking pictures, the door to the attic slammed shut right in front of them. Unfortunately, we were not recording and didn't catch this on film. After that, we all expected a lot of activity. We did the usual EVP and pendulum session. We seemed to contact the grandmother and Kent's mother whom had also passed. Kent asked several questions and the answers he got really seemed to help. This was great. This is why we do this, to help people. We were about to pack up at 1:00am when we started hearing noises in the kitchen. We tried to find the cause, but could not. At 2:00am we left.

Evidence: We got a few EVPs and some video of pans in the kitchen moving slightly. I am not sure what caused this because at the time one was in there or upstairs. We did get two orb pictures.

Conclusion: I think that there appears to be activity here. I can not say without a doubt that this house is haunted. Tony.

January 13th, 2007

January 13th 2007

Location:
Whitefield N.H.

Team members: Tony, Nikki, Nancy, Keegan, and Michelle.

Equipment: IR camera in basement. Camcorder in basement. Wireless camera in bedroom. Small wired camera in the stairway.

Activity: The closet door opened on its own while Jody was painting the room. She said it felt like something was pushing against her when she tried to close it. A wooden object moved from one side of the sink to the other. There once was a greasy footprint on the toilet. Candle flew down the hallway all by its self. The sound of a bouncing ball in the basement.

History: Before Jody moved in, the house was owned by a retired Colonel. He has since passed. She thinks it may be his presence that is causing the activity.

Investigation: We arrived at our usual time of 8:00pm. We did our walk through with the owner Jody Roesch. As I had already been to the house on a previous occasion, I had a pretty good idea were I wanted to put the cameras and base camp. Jody had a few people over to watch the football game that was on. It was Mike, her son Rob (who lives there), and a friend of Robs. We did an EMF sweep and photos. We then went down to the basement to start our investigation. It was 10:00pm. We did some EVP work and some pendulum dowsing, then sat quiet for awhile. Nothing happened while we were down there. We went upstairs and split up into smaller groups. I sat on the stairs leading to the second floor for awhile. The last time I was there I had a weird feeling walking past the stairway. I sat there for awhile when I heard a scuffing sound followed by a footstep in the bedroom at the top of the stairs. I checked to see if anyone was up there. There wasn't. Nancy came over to see what was happening. I told her and we went up the to the bedroom. As I turned the corner to go into the room I saw a shadow pass by the window. I pulled Nancy up the last step to see what I was seeing. She missed it. We all went into the room and found it to be cooler than the hallway. We turned on the EMF detector and it was going off, a constant 3.5 to 4.0. We turned the recorders on and  asked questions of the spirit. The EMF meter went silent and the room warmed back up. Whatever was there had left. After a great snack of Italian subs and desserts (provided by Jody) we were ready to finish the investigation. We held a pendulum session in the living room. Everyone was there and I invited the others to ask questions. We tried to contact the Colonel and it seemed like we did. Also Judy's late husband came through at one point. We finished up and decided to break down base camp and call it a night. The time was 1:30am.

Evidence: We got a few orb pictures and nothing on video. We did get some EVPs. That was it except for a few personal experiences.

Conclusion:
We did have a few personal experiences. We also caught some interesting EVPs. I think there is some activity here, but I would like to do a follow up to see what we get. This one was a lot of fun. Tony.

November 18th, 2006

November 18th 2006

Location:
West Bath, N.H.

Team Members: Tony, Nikki, Keegan, and Nancy.

Equipment: Wireless IR camera in child's bedroom, IR camera in the kitchen.

Activity: Objects move across table and counters. Picture fell of the wall and landed several feet away. Son has seen face in bedroom window.

History: A new trailer has replaced an old one. There was a house on the property before that.

The Investigation: We met friends of the client at 7:30pm at the  Bath Brick Store. We followed them to the client's home. We did a short walk through and heard the stories of activity. We then set up base camp in the living room and placed the cameras. After a recording check, we did photos and EMF sweeps. By 10:00pm, we were ready to start recording. It was a small trailer and fairly new, so I Didn't think much would happen, We did an EVP session in the kitchen that started with a knock on our first question, then not much after that. We did a pendulum session around midnight. We had some interesting results, but nothing conclusive. By 1:00am, we had finished packed up and left.

Evidence: I was surprised at the evidence we gathered. No video. One bright orb picture. Several good EVPs

Conclusion: I do not feel this is actively haunted. The EVPs we collected were very interesting, but that alone is not enough. This case is still open. Tony Lead Investigator.
